Description
The Novablast 5 is Asics' mid-high-stack daily trainer for stacking up mileage without thinking about it: softer and more fun than the Cumulus, less structured than the Gel-Kayano. It sits in the comfort + responsiveness sweet spot that makes it the pick for 70% of your runs. The 41.5mm heel / 33.5mm forefoot midsole (8mm drop) uses the new FF Blast Max supercritical POE: springier than the old FF Blast+ Eco and holding its bounce past 600-800km. The trampoline geometry and AHAR LO outsole push you through toe-off without feeling tippy; the 8mm drop forgives heel-strikers. Double-layer jacquard mesh upper breathes better than the v4 (still warm below 5°C). 250g (US 9), also available in Wide (2E). For the hybrid athlete alternating running and gym work: comfortable for 90+ minute long runs, lively enough for a 5x1000m at threshold or a sprint for the train. It's not a racer: with no carbon plate and no PEBA foam it won't snap you forward like a super-shoe on race day. And it's not a stability shoe — if you overpronate, look at the Gel-Kayano 32.
